![]() So now I’m back to looking at FastRawViewer again! The free Beta testing period is over, so I’ll have to pay $14.99 to use for longer than 30 days. Now, I can set it to preview the actual RAW data, but that slows it down so much (3-8 seconds between photos) that it’s actually faster to use Lightroom! But, unfortunately, it views the jpeg preview, which is so highly compressed that it is almost worthless for judging critical sharpness at 100% zoom. Now this would not be a problem if FastStone read the data from the RAW file. DNG files are already so large, (20-30 MB each) that they implement some extremely high jpeg compression for the built in previews. Lightroom seems to have a bit of an issue with Pentax’s. However, I have a problem with it now… I upgraded from my Canon Rebel T3, to a Pentax K-5 DSLR, which shoots RAW files in either. It's the most reliable feature in ApolloOne strangely.I guess it’s been about exactly a year since the last post on this thread! I’ve used Fast Stone Image Viewer for probably 95% of all my photo viewing, and I’m still happy with it! ApolloOne is worth buying for its ability to show you where your focus point was when browsing through a shoot.įocus point reveal worked for Canon 5DIII, 5DS R, Sony A6300 and Fujifilm X-H1. I'd love to drop $10 on it right away if the filtering would work consistently and ratings and labels were kept in compatible XMP files which would work with Adobe Bridge compliant applications like DxO Photo Lab and FastRawViewer. I'm DxO Photo Lab and Iridient Developer user myself. In the meantime, though not as pretty, FastRawViewer is very reliable and stores rating data in XMP files which Adobe Bridge, Lightroom, DxO Photo Lab, Capture One and Iridient Developer all pick up. Keep in mind the full app is $10 (fantastic deal if it would work for rating). You can move files just by drag and drop but they copy don't move. Lyn does read ApolloOne ratings but sadly DxO Photo Lab and FastRawViewer do not. It doesn't seem ApolloOne writes ratings which other applications can view either. Does not consistently read XMP style Bridge/FastRawViewer ratings. Turns out toolbar filtering doesn't work but menu filtering does work. Still filtering on rating didn't work for me either even when I was able to rate on some folders. Might be a permissions issue for that folder. Often crashes on me though when I try to rate or filter photos though.
